What does it really mean to forgive?
Is this the secret on how to live?
Jesus said forgive “seventy times seven”:
Is the pathway for getting to Heaven?

No, because salvation comes from repentance
Looking to God: asking His forgiveness.
His instruction we can all follow.
It’s for today and for tomorrow.

God forgives and then forgets.
I haven’t forgotten my pain yet.
I keep forgiveness in my heart
And let God do the forgetting part.

There are consequences to every sin:
One hope being they don’t do it again.
Forgiveness is separate for me and you.
It heals our heart and it’s commanded, too.

We find it stated in the Lord’s Prayer
Its effect is made quite clear.
“Forgive us as we forgive others.”
It will bring us back together.

What does unforgiveness bring?
It can poison everything.
Bitterness, separation from everyone
And pain in our hearts we can’t outrun.

Forgiveness will help us change and grow
Closer to God and each other. So
Make it a habit from day to day.
Your heart will soften along the way.
