SEASONS

A gentle breeze is blowing
Barely disturbing the leaves on the tree.
Green leaves are tinged with red and yellow
Summer is ending in front of me.

Grass green from months of sprinklers
Is touched by patches, dry and brown.
Will a light coat be needed soon?
When will the leaves start falling down?

The laughter of children’s voices
Has moved from backyard to school.,
Free play, running, chasing each other
Is gone, like splashes in the pool.

Fourth of July fireworks that sparkled in the sky
Are dark for another year.
Picnics in the park, baseball games, barbecues
Have all but disappeared.

Ah, but do not fear the fun is over.
There are more holidays ahead!
Halloween, Thanksgiving, and
Christmas traditions will come instead.

The years are full of changes
Seasons come and go.
Enjoy each day to its fullest:
From spring blooms to winter snow.

Such a beautiful word picture of the changing seasons and the passing of time in general. Love this.
