One early morning
The moon met the sun.
“Your time is over because
The day has just begun””
The sun was proud.
He made the moon feel bad.
He didn’t really care.
“Sun is best!” Moon is sad.
The moon wandered off
As the sun rose so bright.
The moon knew she was dim
Even during the dark night.
“Am I not important?”
The moon thought to herself.
She hid inside a cave.
Put her light on a shelf.
The sun was very happy.
“I’ll be out all the time!
Who needs that old moon?
People enjoy my shine.”
At first it seemed that
The sun was quite right.
Everyone enjoyed the warmth
Keeping busy day and night.
The farmers noticed first
How their crops all dried up.
People will get hungry!
No milk or food. Is this a bluff?
But the sun went on shining.
There’d be no water soon.
Its heat burned people’s skin
All got tired. “Hey where’s the moon?”
In its dark cave the cries
Came to the moon’s ears.
Maybe it was important.
It climbed into the night air.
The stars shined brighter.
The people went to bed.
Cold water started flowing.
Life restored as God meant.
The sun got a little grumpy
As the moon returned to its place.
Both were created for a purpose.
Like all of us living in God’s grace.
