CONFIDENCE

Where do you find your confidence?
Is it hidden somewhere deep inside?
Perhaps confidence lives in your heart.
Maybe in a recess in your mind.

Confidence is precious:
To this I will agree.
A hidden treasure? Surely.
For only my eyes to see?

My confidence may start out small.
I wonder if it could grow?
Do I keep it close inside a box
Where I never let it show?

Will confidence increase
By merely walking in the sun?
There must be a different way
For development to come.

Trying to master a new skill;
Waking up one gone to sleep.
From in my heart or in my brain
I must strengthen my belief.

How do I get started?
My mindset must be new.
Changing from “I’ll try today”
To “I must.” “I will do!”

My confidence had shriveled
As I made choices out of fear.
I let the phrase “I can’t”
Become the only words I’d hear.

God sent me a hand to lift me
Out of this evil quagmire.
I started out with little steps
Toward a future I desired.

At first there was always someone
Upon whom I could lean.
Doing things all by myself
Built confidence unseen.

Time passed oh-so-slowly.
It took me unaware.
Changes did occur within:
Now confidence was there.

Look deep into your heart and mind.
Assess your confidence.
Work to make it grow and grow
Break down all resistance.

A world without confidence
Is certainly very small.
Take a deep breath, make a goal
Now you can do it all!
