WANDERING WONDER

Everywhere I turn my head
There’s something new to see.
Spring flowers bursting into bloom
The varied colors of the trees.

Animals have wandered here
Some large; others small.
All have left a footprint
There are hooves. There are claws.

All has changed in this short time
Since I was here before:
Taller grass and new flowers
The wind is gentle no more.

A long and bumpy road
Is a small price to pay
To bask in all the glories
I’m surrounded by today.

Wherever I gaze
I see God’s hand.
The Designer is here.
You can see His plan.

Listen. Can you hear them?
The different bird songs
Are praising their Creator
As my heart sings along.

The busy world I left behind
Is now beneath my feet.
I’m caressed by all of nature.
My heart has found such peace.

Up here I find it easy
To marvel at what God’s done.
The wind, the birds, the flowers are
All from the mind of the Son.

Should I tiptoe quietly away
From a place I found by chance
Disturbing nothing as I leave
With just a backward glance?
